If This Arkansas Heat Has You Melting… Let’s Talk Alaska

I have reached that point in an Arkansas summer where I walk outside and immediately start questioning every life choice that led me to standing in that heat.

You know the kind of day I mean. 

The air feels heavy. The car is basically an oven. And suddenly, places with glaciers start sounding VERY reasonable. 

That got me thinking about Alaska. 

Because when it is this hot at home, Alaska is one of the few places I look at and think, Yep. Put me there. 

Not because I want to spend an entire vacation bundled up and freezing, but because there is something incredibly appealing about crisp air, dramatic scenery, and needing a jacket again. 

Add in mountains, wildlife, glaciers, and a cruise hip doing the moving for you, and I am sold. 

And the timing is pretty perfect, because I already have an Alaska group cruise planned for September 2027. 

 

Why Alaska Sounds REALLY Good Right Now 

There are vacations you plan because you want sunshine and a beach chair. 

Then there are vacations you start dreaming about because you are DONE being hot. 

Alaska is such a fun change of pace. 

Instead of trying to find the nearest patch of shade, you are looking out at mountains, waterfalls, forested coastlines, and glaciers. Instead of planning your day around air conditioning, you actually want to step outside because you do not want to miss the view. 

That is part of what makes an Alaska cruise so special to me. 

You get this huge, wild destination without having to unpack and repack every couple of days. Your room travels with you. You can spend the day exploring, come back onboard, have a great dinner, relax, and wake up ready to see something completely different. 

For someone who wants adventure without making every single day feel like work, that is a pretty great combination. 

Now for the part I am REALLY excited about. 

I’m hosting an Alaska group cruise aboard Norwegian Encore from September 12 through September 19, 2027. 

We’ll sail round trip from Seattle, with stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Victoria, plus a day cruising Glacier Bay. 

That means one trip gives us a little bit of everything I love about Alaska. 

There are port days where you can get out and explore. There is Glacier Bay, where the scenery itself gets to be the event. And then there are those moments onboard when you can grab something to eat, find a comfortable spot, and just watch Alaska go by. 

Norwegian Encore gives us plenty to enjoy when we are not ashore too, including dining and entertainment, the Observation Lounge, Thermal Suite, and even the Encore Speedway. 

Will I personally need to race around the ship while we’re cruising Alaska? 

We’ll see. 

Will I absolutely support anyone in the group who does? 

Of course I will. 

 

Why I Love the Group Part 

Some trips are wonderful on your own. 

But Alaska feels like one of those places that gets even better when you have people around you saying, “Did you SEE that?!” 

That is one of my favorite things about group travel. We get to share the excitement without everyone having to do every single thing together. 

Want to head out on an excursion and have an adventure? Go for it. 

Want a slower morning and some time to enjoy the ship? That works too. 

Then we can meet back up, compare stories, laugh about what happened that day, and do it all again tomorrow. 

And from the planning side, you’ll have me there to help you figure out the details long before we ever leave. 

I want you getting excited about Alaska, not staring at 47 browser tabs wondering which cabin, excursion, or option makes the most sense. 

 

September 2027 Will Be Here Faster Than We Think 

I know September 2027 sounds like we have plenty of time. 

But this is exactly when I like having the conversation. 

An Alaska vacation gives us so many choices, and planning ahead gives us more room to talk about what you actually want from the experience, rather than waiting until later and trying to make the remaining options work. 

So, while Arkansas is doing its best impression of the surface of the sun, I’m giving you full permission to think cooler thoughts. 

Glaciers. 

Mountains. 

Crisp mornings. 

A big ship. 

And hopefully significantly less sweating.
